Rural Merseyside - An Unexploited Asset
Rural Innovation has been appointed to prepare a Rural Economy Strategy and Action Plan for Merseyside. The Client Group, which includes the Mersey Partnership, the Mersey Forest and five local authorities, is led by John Whaling from St.Helens Council. They are keen to identify the value offered by the rural parts of the sub-region to its economic future.
This work will require a new way of assessing the contribution of the rural area. We have therefore included Professor Robert Huggins in our team. Robert is the author of the acclaimed UK Competitiveness Index and will provide a hugely valuable insight into the relative performance of different areas of the City Region.
